Tobacco Production Facility, PA - New Cooling Tower and Humidifier Peroxide Installation 2010

JNB has recently completed engineering of a peroxide feed and storage system for a tobacco production facility in Pennsylvania. The peroxide will be used for the site cooling towers similarly to other peroxide applications as a total tower treatment. The peroxide will also be used to sanitize the humidification units used to in the tobacco production. Since any biocide used will come in contact with the end product, the usage of other biocides like bromine, chlorine etc. is not acceptable. Since the peroxide is an excellent biocide and breaks down quickly into water and oxygen, it was a natural fit in this case.

Unlike many of the peroxide installations, designed by JNB, with simple gravity feed and on/off manual  pumping, this location chose a completely automated feed. The storage tank and pumping manifold will be completely automated and integrated into the building automation system (BAS). This will enable the operator to chose which of the (3) feed points they would like to feed, using the BAS, as well as the length of feed sequence. After the feed sequence is completed, the system controller will automatically purge the feed line using oil free compressed air. The 275 gallon double-walled tank will be located outside and receive periodic bulk deliveries. Similar to all peroxide feed systems designed by JNB, this system will require no operator handling of the peroxide. All other necessary safety measures have been engineered into the system.
